Exterior Painting
Prep that holds up to a New York winter
Exterior paint fails from the bottom up — it fails because of what was underneath it, not because of what was brushed over it. On a Bronx two-family, a Brooklyn brownstone, or a house out on Long Island, that means scraping the loose material back to something sound, spot-priming bare wood and bare masonry, and sealing the joints where water gets in. We wash the surface first, let it dry properly, and use exterior-grade coatings rated for freeze-thaw cycles, so the work is still holding three and four winters later.
Our Process
Inspect
We walk the exterior and find the failing paint, the rot, and the places water is entering.
Wash & Scrape
The surface is cleaned, scraped back to sound material, sanded, and left to dry fully.
Prime & Seal
Bare spots are primed and every open joint is caulked before a finish coat goes near it.
Finish Coats
Two coats applied to spec, then a walk-around with you before the site is cleared.
